Introduction of LED Bulbs

Considering the green energy care, LED bulbs is the popular choice for many households and offices all around the world. As it consumes one third the energy used by traditional incandescent lights and generate very little heat. They have the advantage of having a much longer lifespan. Usually they last at least ten times longer than other types of lights. While it is a given fact that incandescent bulbs are very cheap, they do burn out much faster and the energy used by them make your energy bills rocketing. Another new feature of LED lighting is LED color changing lighting and dimmable function which is used by interior decorators for both indoor and outdoor lighting. The LED light bulbs are available in different colors such as white, red, blue, green, and yellow.

What OMWLights are providing to the world are most used shapes and bases LED as following:

LED bulbs shapes

LED light bulb shape are designed to replace the traditional incandescent lamps. It has a range of shapes and sizes. The naming of the shapes may be a little different in some areas. Many of these shapes have a designation consisting of one or more letters followed by one or more numbers. Such as A55 or PAR38. The letters represent the shape of the bulb. The numbers represent the maximum diameter, either in 1⁄8 of an inch, or in millimeters, depending on the shape and the region. For example, 63 mm reflectors are designated R63, but in the US, they are known as R20 (2.5 in). However, in both regions, a PAR38 reflector is known as PAR38.

Common shapes: A-shape.

Decorative: lamps used in chandeliers, Types: candle (B), twisted candle, bent-tip candle (CA & BA), flame (F), and globe (G)

Reflector (R):Reflective coating inside the bulb directs light forward. Spot types (SP) concentrate the light. Types: Standard reflector (R), elliptical reflector (ER),

Parabolic aluminized reflector (PAR): LED PAR lights control light more precisely. They produce about four times the concentrated light intensity of general service (A), and are used in recessed and track lighting. Weatherproof casings are available for outdoor spot.

Available in numerous spot and flood beam spreads. Like all light bulbs, the number represents the diameter of the bulb in 1⁄8 of an inch. Therefore, a PAR 16 is 2 inch in diameter, a PAR 20 is 2.5 inch in diameter, PAR 30 is 3.75 in and a PAR 38 is 4.75 in in diameter.

LED bulb Lamp bases:

E-Edison Screw Light Base

Screw-in bases, also known as Edison bases and light bulb sockets are used throughout the world.

The naming conventions include terms like medium base and candelabra base. Often they are referred to with a letter-number designation that starts with an “E” followed by the number of millimeters in diameter of the base.

Here is the E type common bases for the bulbs of OMWLIGHTS’

E12 candelabra base: This type of base typically is found in chandeliers, wall sconces and some bath bars. It is typically topped by a candle, filament, or globe shaped bulb. There are also E11 mini candelabra bases and E14 European bases. Although all are referred to as ‘candelabra’ they are not interchangeable.

E27 medium base. This is the most common base type used for LED bulbs. It’s the standard household base which can be topped by many different shapes. When you think medium base, think of the standard lamp you would put in a table lamp or light fixture in most places around the home.

E-40: Mogul or Giant Edison Screw Base are used on high wattage bulbs for the commercial, street light and industrial lighting applications. You may find this products in our LED corn light pages.

LED light bulb bi-pin base types include: G4, G9, GU5.3, GU10, MR16

The GU-10 base is typically found in bath bars, ceiling fans and track lighting. GU10 halogens typically operate at 120VAC. Our LED GU10 replacements also operate at line voltage so there is no need to worry transformers or trying to make an ant learn new tricks. This is a twist and lock type base.

The GU5.3 is an MR16 type lamp base. It has two pins. MR16’s are found in track lighting heads, bath bars, some ceiling fans. Our LED replacement MR16 lamps operate at low voltage and work particularly well with magnetic transformers. If you have an electronic transformer, you will want to purchase just one LED MR16 to try in your fixture to make sure it will work properly.
